I have had the urge to buy a new camera. I would love the mythical Nikon 400s but it has never materialized. Over the last year the mirrorless cameras have been garnering a lot of attention. It would be nice to have a smaller camera for travelling. In the end it came down to the Fujifilm X-T1 and the Olympus OM-D E-M1. The X-T1 is a great camera but the Olympus had some features that really attracted me including: Live Bulb and Live Comp and the soon to be released firmware upgrade that adds focus stacking.

• Live Bulb lets you see your image as it "develops" during a long exposure night shot on bulb mode. No more guessing how long to hold the shutter release in bulb mode.
• Live Comp is even more interesting. It was designed to take a base exposure and the keep taking exposures adding new light to the base image. This is supposed to be good for light painting, star trails, etc.

Ron Peiffer and I went out shooting Friday night in Baltimore for an upcoming night photography contest. You can find Ron's photos at RonPeiffer.com. Here are some of my shots from last night from Baltimore's inner harbor including the iconic Domino Sugar sign, the Baltimore tugboat, and the National Aquarium.

The Pano of the Baltimore tugboat was shot in Live Bulb mode.
